30 Jul 2009 - Sunwing sets sail with expanded cruise lineup

It’s all smooth sailing with Sunwing Vacations: the package holiday company has just released its 2009/10 cruise brochure, once again featuring the beautiful Caribbean Princess sailing from San Juan. Sunwing is also pleased to advise that they have added MSC Cruises to their cruise product, offering aboard the lovely MSC Poesia sailing from Ft Lauderdale.

Back again with Sunwing is the Caribbean Princess, one of the stars of the region that bears her name. The Caribbean Princess sails on a Classic Southern Caribbean itinerary (from Puerto Rico to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados) and a Southern Caribbean Explorer (from San Juan to St. Thomas, Dominica, Grenada, Bonaire and Aruba).

New this year from Sunwing and Princess is an exclusive option to pre-book one of 4 different Bar and Beverage programs on the Caribbean Princess starting at $190 Canadian per person/per week. Please note that this exclusive offer can only be purchased in advance and is not available on board.

Passengers on board the Caribbean Princess have a variety of dining options including traditional and anytime dining, “Movies Under the Stars”, an art gallery complete with auctions, ScholarShip@Sea, the cruise line’s great line-up of guest lecturers, and kids’ facilities ranging from the teen centre to a splash pool for the wee ones.

Sunwing Vacations is delighted to announce the addition of MSC Cruises to their cruise product line. This Italian-owned cruise line operates a fleet of ten cruise ships with another on the way in 2010, and is part of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) family. When guests step aboard the MSC Poesia they will experience understated elegance and genuine Italian hospitality. From the signature La Cucina Italiana cuisine to the rejuvenating spa, abundant nightlife and entertainment venues MSC Cruises is committed to exceeding the vacation expectations of their guests.

Since its debut in the Caribbean last year, the MSC Poesia (“poem of the seas”) has proven a hit with cruisers who enjoy the ship's facilities such as a 13,000 square foot spa, a sushi bar complete with Zen garden, and even a tennis court. Eleven bars, eight restaurants (including six themed restaurants), two pools and seven whirlpools, plus a gym with yoga classes round out the variety of facilities available onboard.

The Poesia accommodates up to 2,550 guests and also offers age appropriate activities for kids and teens from 3 to 17. Best of all, children 17 and under sail for free, paying just airfare and taxes.

The MSC Poesia sails on one week cruises from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and on its Eastern Caribbean itineraries visits Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, the British Virgin Islands and Nassau, with two days spent at sea. Another itinerary, Island Treasures and Ancient Temples, features stops at Key West, Mexico’s Playa del Carmen, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Nassau, with one day at sea. A variety of theme cruises are also available on select sailings.

Sunwing has packaged the MSC Poesia with its convenient flights on Sunwing Airlines direct from Toronto with a three night pre/post stay at the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina for a lovely 10-day getaway. Direct flights from Montreal offer seven-night cruise packages with air. Other durations are available.
